Most common Sports Injuries

Lower Back Pain- A very common injury mostly in active people. General cause is from excessive heavy lifting, sporting activities and sleeping awkwardly.

Quadriceps Strain- Common causes include using the muscles without warming up, over-stretching and overuse in the muscles.

Hamstring Pull- Common cause occurs when the muscle is overstretched or from a pulled muscle which can lead to muscle tear. Can be caused by running, jumping, sprinting, and any form of kicking.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL )- strains can be from hyperextension of the knee or pivoting in place. Pain is on the outside of the upper thigh.

Tennis Elbow-This can result from overuse of the arm, forearm and hand muscles. This can affect Tennis players with their bad backhand techniques.

Ankle Sprain- This is an Injury to the soft tissues and generally the ligaments, of the ankle. This happens when you twist your ankle.

plantar Fasciitis- often brought on by stress to the feet, is painful comes on when the tendon along the arch of the foot becomes strained, makes it tight and uncomfortable to put pressure on when walking.

    If you have a lot of swelling it is helpful to remember the R.I.C.E principal: .

    Rest -Allow the muscle to begin recovery without any more damage being done. Ice- Straight away to help slow down circulation and reduce swelling. You should ice for 10 to 15 minutes be careful in giving yourself an ice burn. Use a damp cloth between your skin and the ice. Repeat this several times a day. Compression- apply pressure to the injury to restrict bleeding. Continue this routine for a few days. Elevate- the injured area to above your torso. This will help reduce swelling from the injured area..
